I heartily recommend the Hotel Roma to anyone looking for a warm, friendly place to stay in Florence. The housekeeping is meticulously spotless, all the staff members are courteous and warm, and the building itself is a gem. We spent 4 days there last month (May 2002) in a bright, spacious room overlooking Piazza Santa Maria Movella -- a marvellous feast for the eyes both day and night. For those who might be bothered by the constant activity and occasional nocturnal celebrations in the square, the new double- (or maybe triple-) glazed windows and electric shades block out all unwanted noise and light. The construction nextdoor was not a problem. While the marble floors in the breakfast room were being refinished, we ate in the Bar; the last day we experienced the breakfast room which, while pleasant, in no way compares with the spaciousness and elegance of the bar. > And you can walk to anywhere -- even Oltrarnop.
